After completing their education at Bob Jones University and living in Greenville, SC for several years after that, Randy and Kathy answered the call of the Lord for Church Planting and Minsitry to Native Americans in the West. The Lord moved them to Arizona in 1988 where they planted Living Waters Baptist Church. Something they looked forward to each year was taking their church kids to The Wilds of the Rockies for camp each summer. It was this time each summer that really recharged and encouraged them. When the Wilds of the Rockies closed, Randy realized there was a need for a good camp in the Southwest, especially for smaller churches who could not afford to travel far to go to camp. The Lord had already been burdening them about the need for camp ministry in Canada, and through unique circumstances, the Lord allowed Camp on Wheels to fit into meeting camping needs in both Arizona and Canada. During their free time, the Wilsons enjoy spending time with family, Bass Pro Shop, and spending time with all the Camp Kids.

Andy began working in Christian camping during the summer of 1991 as a counselor at The Wilds in North Carlina and then the following 2 summers at The Wilds of the Rockies. While there his burden for the ministry of Christian camping intensified, although he never imagined that the Lord would allow him to be in camping full time. After receiving a degree in Chemistry from Bob Jones University, the Lord opened the door for he and his wife Sheri to begin serving at The Wilds as part of the kitchen staff. Shortly after that they moved to Colorado where they were involved in many different aspects of the camp ministry from cooking to office to maintence supervisor. After that ministry closed, the Lord moved their family to North Carolina to continue with The Wilds on the maintenance staff as well as using Andy’s chemistry background to help with the water and wastewater systems. Early in 2008, when the opportunity arose to help Camp on Wheels, the Lord made it very clear that this was the next step that He had for their family. Looking back over the past 17 years that he has been privilieged to be part of Christian camping, Andy feels that it is nothing that he has done and that it is an evidence of God’s faithfulness and the knowledge that it is all about God. Our part is simply to do the next right thing, and He will direct each step. It is overwhelming to see what God has done and how He has opened doors and directed each step to bring their family to this point.

Andy & his wife Sheri have 6 children ranging in age from 2 to 12. Kaitlin–the princess and second mom, Joshua & Caleb–the 2 spies, Matthew & Nathanael–the 2 disciples, and Benjamin–the younger brother. Sheri homeschools their children and will be helping with the nursing at camp. They enjoy the outdoors and hunting, fishing, & camping together.

Brian graduated in 1986 from Bob Jones University after studying camp
camp ministry in Colorado where he stayed for two years. He was on the
program staff of The Wilds in western North Carolina for ten years. He
married his wife Rebecca in 1993. In 1998, Brian and Rebecca moved back to
The Wilds of the Rockies where he was the program director for almost seven
years. When The Wilds of the Rockies closed in 2004, the Olsens decided to
stay in Colorado to continue providing Christian camping in the West. God
enabled Brian to found Pine Ridge Ministries, a Christian camping ministry
in Colorado. Since 2006 the Lord has blessed the ministry allowing them to serve over one thousand campers through three summer teen camps and five adult
retreats.

The Olsens are now serving with Camp on Wheels helping to build a
permanent campsite in the Northeastern Arizona Mountains. They are thrilled
to be a part of this exciting ministry. They have four children: Ethan, Jacob, Laura and Audrey. Brian has a passion for camp work and the
youth of America. His desire is to see camp ministry continue in the West
and reach many for the Lord. The Olsens pray that young people will commit
their lives to Jesus Christ and realize that there is true joy in serving
God.

I’ve counseled at Camp on Wheels for three summers, and have been thrilled over and over by God’s work in me and in my campers. Although the Lord has taught me different things each year, one thing that really stands out to me when I look back is that ministry is about the people. The staff at Camp on Wheels has been a huge blessing to me each year by showing in word and deed that the people are what matter most. They have invested a great deal of time, energy, and wisdom in my life, which in turn made me want to do the same in my campers’ lives. Camp on Wheels is a place where each and every person, from the staff to the counselor to the camper, is encouraged to grow spiritually and to “do all to the glory of God” (I Cor. 10:31).
